The following is helpful information and tips for using the Self-Clean (may also be called Auto Clean) cycle on your self-clean oven or range. In double oven models, you cannot self clean both ovens at the same time; you also cannot bake in one while self-cleaning the other.
Before starting the Self-Clean cycle:
- I want to replace a 25 year old GE electric P7, built-in double self-cleaning oven, JKP36G0D2BG. As I measured it, it seems much smaller than all replacement electric double ovens. What models can I lo.
- Popular General Electric Wall Oven Elements and Burners. Your Price $ 49.28. Refer to your model number and user manual to ensure this part is right for you. Each screw gets screwed into each wire terminal with a Phillips screw driver. Hold the wires forward to make sure the wires do not fall back through the rear of the oven.
- Part Number: WB44X200. This 240-volt 3100 watt bake element has screw style connections, 13 1/4-inch wide by 163/4-inch long. The bake element is located on the bottom of the oven cavity and supplies the heat for baking.
Generally speaking, this means the oven uses high heat to incinerate food soils, thus cleaning the oven. When GE Appliances introduced its model P7 self-cleaning electric oven in 1963, the drudgery of manually cleaning a dirty oven was eliminated. This was the 1st self-cleaning oven on the market!
Remove racks and other items
- Remove all items from the oven, including probes, foil, silicone mats, stored pans, etc. We don't recommend using your oven for storage or lining the shelves/floor with foil or silicone mats. However, if they are used and left in the oven during self-clean, damage to the oven may occur.
- Do not remove the light bulb or light bulb cover (if applicable).
- Remove the racks, unless they are labeled as 'self-clean'. Your Owner's Manual will indicate whether they are self-clean racks. Although we don't recommend it, non-self-clean racks can put through the cleaning cycle, but will discolor and warp slightly, making it hard to pull them in and out. Wipe out interior
- Any excessive amount of spillover (juices or liquid grease) not baked-on should be wiped out with a wet cloth before running through a self-clean cycle.
- Wipe off the inside of the oven door with a damp cloth, especially the window. Cleaning Inner Oven Door Panel - Self Cleaning Models.
- Do not use cleaning products when wiping out the door, window, or oven interior for self-clean.
During the Self-Clean cycle:
- If smoking occurs during cleaning, it is usually caused by excessive grease or soil (or a utensil, etc.) inside the oven.
- We recommend that you ventilate the kitchen by opening windows or turning on the exhaust fan while performing the self-clean function.
- If there are flames inside the oven, switch the oven to Off.
- Allow oven to cool at least one hour.
- Correct the condition which caused the smoking.
- Start the self-clean operation again.
- Many ranges and ovens use fans to help cool down the internal components during and after self-cleaning. The fan or blower could run after the Self-Clean cycle is complete until the oven has cooled.
After the Self-Clean cycle:
- It can take between 30 and 90 minutes for the oven to cool down after a self cleaning cycle. The lock light and clean lights may remain on during this time.
- White ash on the interior is normal. Food soil can;leave ash deposits in the oven after it has burned off. This appears as a light film or a darker, heavier ash, depending upon the amount of soil which was in the oven. This ash can be removed with a water and vinegar solution and a sponge or cloth.
